Friends of the Whittier Narrows Natural Area

Visitors and supporters of the Whittier Narrows Natural Area can find family events, guest speakers and clean-up days on this calendar. We also list meetings of the various agencies whose plans and policies affect the Natural Area.

6/19/10 - Bird walk led by the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

6/26/10 - Cleanup led by the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates, 8 - 10 a.m. 

6/26/10 - Bird walk led by veteran birder and docent Ray Jillson, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

July

7/3/10 -  Bird walk led by the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

7/4/10 - Bird walk led by the Whittier Area Audubon Society, 8 a.m. Families welcome. Tentative.

7/10/10 - Bird walk led by veteran birder and docent Ray Jillson, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

7/10/10 - Monthly evening programs, Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates:

4 p.m. - Nature Center Associates meeting.

5 p.m. - Picnic supper and guest speaker. Speaker TBA. Bring an item to share. Families welcome.

6:30 p.m. -  Night hike. Families welcome.

7/11/10 - Friends working meeting, 1 p.m., in the nature center picnic area. All are welcome.

7/17/10 - Bird walk led by the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

7/24/10 - Bird walk led by veteran birder and docent Ray Jillson, 8 a.m. Families welcome.

PLEASE NOTE: The Whittier Narrows Nature Center is now closed on Mondays due to county budget cuts. The Natural Area is still open on Mondays. Click here for a Los Angeles Times article on the situation.
