Environmental impact report

Environmental impact report

On Feb. 19, 2010, the Friends of the Whittier Narrows Natural Area filed a lawsuit to void the San Gabriel River Discovery Center Authority's Jan. 19 decision to raze the existing nature center and build on the wildlife sanctuary.

The suit, filed by environmental law firm Angel Law on behalf of the Friends, charges that the authority failed to meet its legal obligations under California law when it certified an inadequate final environmental impact report and approved the project.

The suit also asks that an injunction be placed against further work on the Discovery Center unless and until a legally adequate  EIR is prepared, circulated and certified.
